GROUND HANDLING · PARAGLIDING SKILLS
BETTER ON THE GROUND.
BETTER IN THE AIR.
Ground handling is where confident paragliding starts. Build cleaner control, better habits and a much deeper feel for what your wing is telling you before your feet ever leave the ground.
WHY IT MATTERS
Your best flying skill can be practised without taking off.
Strong ground handling makes launches calmer, corrections smaller and wing behaviour easier to understand. It is useful for brand-new students, recently qualified pilots and experienced pilots who want to sharpen technique. The aim is not flashy tricks — it is relaxed, precise control that transfers directly into safer, cleaner launches and better overall wing awareness.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
Control the wing instead of wrestling it.
Inflation & control — build repeatable technique in different usable wind strengths.
Forward & reverse launch skills — understand setup, timing and correction.
Wing awareness — feel pressure changes and recognise what the canopy is doing before it becomes a problem.
Movement & positioning — use your body efficiently rather than relying on arm strength.
Launch preparation — create routines that reduce rushed decisions and avoidable errors.
